Happy 4th of July! Right now, other than what my calendar says, I wouldn’t know it was a holiday. It’s just another Tuesday. Having mid-week holidays are weird. Was yesterday a holiday? —- well for some —- yess; for others — no. I think everything is closed today and there won’t be any mail delivery. Tonight there will be a massive fireworks display on the river front of the Ohio River. I’m sure that the place will be crowded and the traffic will suck, and there won’t be parking anywhere close. That’s my grumpy rant. But —- they will show the whole thing on local tv and I can sit and have a beer, eat my pretzels, enjoy the show with no crowds and be in the air conditioning.

The rest of today, as I said is a normal Tuesday. First load of laundry is in the dryer and second load is in the washing machine. I’ll spend the afternoon downstairs in my office working on church stuff. Did I tell you I finished my Bible study lesson plan? I’m really glad to have that done. I met with my co-teacher on Sunday and I think we have a good game plan. I sent her a copy of my lesson plan and she can add it to her plans. I suspect we will have a hard time keeping the class to an hour. I know there are folks looking forward to the class. Now I need to get back on the sermon writing and service planning.

Kate is doing so very much better now. Most of the peeling has finished from the radiation. It is still tender of course and that may never go away. I have a large scar from when my Achilles’ tendon was removed and even though the muscles and tendon have repaired itself, if I touch the scar, it feels like a got hit by a bolt of electricity. So I have a bit of an understanding of what she is going through.

I think it is time to have some lunch. I hope you enjoy your day off. Take some time today to reflect of the price we have paid for our freedom ion this country. The price has been high in terms of lives lost. I wish you peace.
