Lots of high clouds and moisture in the air this morning. There is definitely a filtered sun out there. The weather forecasts call for more rain and possibly strong storms. As we always do —- of course we are thankful, —- but are already whining that we have too much rain now. Actually my farmer friends are more concerned about the storms that bring strong, crop-destroying hail and wind. There is a picture today on Facebook of a farmer in Illinois standing in his corn field and it has been flattened by 60-70 mph winds. That crop will not recover, or at least I don’t think it will. It may still produce corn but they will have to use a special “head” on the combine to harvest it. I have seen our folks go through this very same thing. He may end up discing it all under and re-planting for a late harvest. That kills any thought of profit for the year. I was talking to one of my folks yesterday who said they had some hail damage that flattened some corn. That is the risk of farming though. They put seed in the ground and pray.
Today we need to go to Sam’s Club and pick up our order that we placed yesterday. It’s not a huge order but is some needed stuff. I like the on-line ordering most of the time but sometimes they tend to substitute items and sometimes the order isn’t right. But it is convenient. We haven’t actually been in Sam's for a long time. We just call and pick it up.
Okay, I have to run and do stuff. Have a great 4th of July weekend. Peace.
