I have changed my plans for the day. I planned to go out and cut the large branch off of the pussy Willow “tree” that has dies. Then I was going to cut it up and put it in my trash can like I usually do with that kind of stuff. However, —- the boss, Ms. Kate said “no”. It has already gotten up to 85 degrees this morning and is going to up at least 90before to long, and the humidity is up in the discomfort range. She doesn’t want me out working in it; —- so I’ll keep myself inside. Being hot and sweaty and having an aggravated wife is not a good combination. You learn that stuff somewhere along the way during a 57 year marriage.
I will, however, go get some black oil sunflower seed for my bird friends. I’ve been out for a week or so. The birds, but mostly squirrels, have finally emptied the feeders. I have a couple of other feeders with a different type of birdseed in them that the birds are not really eating. I think there is enough seed and stuff in the fields that they aren’t coming around here. I’m a “hold in reserve” way station I guess. I keep the bird bats clean and fresh water filled and maybe they will grab a bite or two, but I don’t have a lot of visitors these hot day. It’s not new, it happens like this every summer. I am getting a fairly steady stream of birds at my new camera feeder. I enjoy that. I’m really glad that the Cardinals have found it.
I think I have narrowed down the scripture matches for my Advent sermon series. I have plenty of time to “put some meat on the bones” as my mentor would say. It will take some work but I think it will be fun to examine what I’m working on; matching up Isaiah with the Gospel of John, first chapter.
Time to get my ball cap and head out to the pet food store for bird seed. Have a blessed day. Peace.
